Go the Extra Mile
Millions around the world walk long distances for dirty, contaminated drinking water.
Maybe you’ve previously supported 20 Liters by making a cash donation or even participated in our annual Walk for Water, but why stop there? Continue to make a difference by hosting your very own fundraiser. It’s easier than you think. In fact, asking for 20 Liters donations instead of birthday presents is a piece of cake. Plus, the money raised at your event will help Rwandan churches build rainwater-harvesting systems and slow-sand water filters and if that’s not a great gift, then I don’t know what is. These technologies allow hundreds of impoverished people easy access to clean, safe drinking water.
Get started by setting a goal.
Think about what amount you can realistically raise from your circle of family, friends and work colleagues. Then aim to surprise yourself.
-
$20 gives 1 person access to clean water for up to 10 years
-
$140 buys a slow-sand filter that provides clean water for up to 4 families for up to 10 years
-
$3200 buys a rainwater-harvesting system to collect clean water during the rainy system for 100 families for up to 10 years.
Once your goal is set, start creating your event and talking it up through email, Facebook, Twitter, even phone calls.
